SHANNON

The boy became a man. The man became a legend.

He didn’t want this life…

An antebellum tale set amidst the backwoods bayous of Louisiana, the sprawling decadence of old New Orleans, and the mercilessly rugged Texas frontier, his fate was chosen for him.

The boy, was raised to be a gentleman. Medical school and a quiet family life were in his stars. The tragedy of the American Civil War, shattered this world. Laughter, love, tragedy, and triumph were his Dharma.

A saga, inspired by the greatest Western ever written.

His name was Shannon Dumas.

DODGE CITY

They said only a fool would wear a badge in Dodge.

Can a Texas Ranger tame Hell on the Plains?

It was a Frontier Babylon, a sprawling tapestry of Americana, synonymous with all that is wild, reckless, and violent. The crossroads of Texas cattle drives, Eastern railroads, and ambitious wagon trains meant glistening easy money. A colorful cast of cutthroats, cardsharks, cretins, and dance hall girls descended on Dodge City like moths to a flame.

Starting from the first Red Light District and ending on Boot Hill, the likes of Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday came and went.

There’s never a dull moment, when everyone from the debaucherous saloons to the pious settlers, and the specter of marauding Indians, are elbow to elbow chasing their piece of the American Dream.

They say power corrupts, there are no heroes.

Shannon Dumas was just passing through...

FATHER KING

He wasn’t always a preacher.

Merciless men and savage beasts lurk in the darkness

They made the mistake of coming for his flock…

Father King is being hunted. A warrior of the cloth, who watched over his flock with tender strength. A man who was like a second father to a homeless young orphan.

Shannon Dumas was raised right.  A blood debt is sacred.

Real men will not back down from facing insurmountable evil. They will confront it from the New World to the Old.

Wicked men go hide in Africa. The Dark Continent is the cry of the Fish Eagle, lions at dawn, or a mamba’s faint hiss. Sordid souls seek to disappear into the heart of darkness.

Shannon knew the score. There would be no rewards, accolades, and near certain death. No promises were made and no one would fault him for staying out of it.

These are exactly the kinds of obligations men must honor.

This African tale was lost to the oceans of time.

Some men, you just don’t cross.

COMANCHE SUMMER NOVELLA

Why are the Texas Rangers legendary to this day?

Shannon Dumas never thought he'd leave New Orleans for Texas, or join the rangers.

This novelette is one season from the full length Ballad of Shannon Dumas series.
